Writingale is a native macOS app, coming to the Mac App Store.

Writingale isn't on the App Store yet. This page describes how it will work when it arrives; there's nothing to download today.

Install

Writingale will be free to download from the Mac App Store. Updates arrive through the App Store like any other app — your books are plain files on disk and are never touched by an update.

Try the example book

Open the bundled example book from the welcome screen to explore a complete sample project, The War of the Worlds (after H. G. Wells), that uses every feature.

Try it before you buy

Until you unlock it, Writingale runs read-only: the app says so in the sidebar and along the bottom of the editor. Open the example book or one of your own, write, rearrange, follow references, explore the graph and the timeline — it all behaves exactly as it will once unlocked, and nothing is kept when you quit. (Adding images is the one thing switched off entirely, since a picture has nowhere to be saved to.)

Unlocking saving is a one-time purchase of €49.99, made inside the app. It is not a subscription: you buy it once, and it stays unlocked.

If you've bought it before — on another Mac, or after reinstalling — choose Restore Purchases to get it back without paying again.

Your data stays yours

Writingale has no accounts and no sync service of its own. A book is a folder of plain text files wherever you keep it — in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or a plain local folder. Removing the app never locks you out of your writing; every file opens in any text editor (see the file format reference if you're curious what's inside).
